Novo Mundo Gold Project

Our Novo Mundo gold project represents strong exploration potential and an attractive investment opportunity providing value-creating options for growth.

Located 740 km from the state capital Cuiabá in in the Alta Floresta Gold Province

Key Project Highlights

  • Location: Central position in the highly productive Alta Floresta Gold Province.
  • Growth Potential: A porphyry-style system associated with significant gold deposits.
  • Exploration Focus: Proven presence of multiple ore shoots with high-grade results.
  • Future Development: Aiming for the mining and processing phase using scalable methods.

Project Detail

This project spans an area of 16,734.94 hectares (167 km2) through three contiguous licenses fully owned by Resouro’s subsidiary, Ison do Brasil Mineração Ltda. The small town of Novo Mundo, which developed due to historical gold rushes and the growth of the agricultural, lies within the license area.

Location

Proximity: 30 km west of Guarantã do Norte and approximately 740 km from the state capital, Cuiabá

Population: Novo Mundo Municipality had an estimated population of 36,130 inhabitants in 2020 (IBGE 2020)

Access & Infrastructure:

Road Access:

Approximately 10 hours by car via the paved highway BR-163.
Farm tracks service the majority of the property.

Airports:

Two regional airports within a 4-hour drive. Sinop (265 km to the south) and Alta Floresta (to the west) with regular flights from major cities like Brasilia, Cuiabá and Sao Paulo.

Local Amenities:

The closest town, Novo Mundo, is equipped with all basic local amenities, while Guarantã do Norte, Matupa and Peixoto de Azevedo provide hotels, banks, and equipment suppliers.

Utilities:

No direct power supply exists on-site, but two 138kV power lines pass by the property, and the town of Novo Mundo has residential power.

Water Supply:

Surface water is plentiful in the area with portable pumps capable of providing sufficient water for exploration activities such as drilling.

Regional Geology

The Novo Mundo project is situated within the prolific Alta Floresta Gold Province (AFGP), also known as the Juruena Teles-Pires Gold Province.

  • Regional Geology: The Novo Mundo project is situated within the prolific Alta Floresta Gold Province (AFGP), also known as the Juruena Teles-Pires Gold Province that has a SE-NW elongate extent exceeding 500km. The region is part of the southernmost portion of the Amazonian Craton at the boundary between the geochronological domains of Rio Negro-Juruena and Tapajos-Parima.
  • Local Geology: The project area is characterized by granitic rocks of the Novo Mundo suite. This suite is compartmentalised into upper and lower units and represents an intrusive body in rocks of the Xingu Complex. The orientation coincides with the direction of the main ductile shear zones and regional lineaments that affect the region. The main facies of the Novo Mundo granites consist of an equigranular, leucocratic, non-magnetic syenogranite with an oriented fabric.
  • Deposit Type: A porphyry-epithermal magmatic-hydrothermal system is interpreted to be responsible for the gold deposits of Novo Mundo. Recent discoveries of disseminated Cu-Au-(Mo) porphyry deposits close to structurally controlled epithermal gold deposits (Jaca, União, & Juruena), reinforce the magmatic-hydrothermal origin of the project, suggesting a porphyry-epithermal type association as the main geological-metallogenetic processes in the AFGP.

Environmental Impact

Utilising a scalable trial mining permit, advance the project to the mining and processing phase under a hub and spoke model.

Current Exploration & Development

Over the past decades, the Novo Mundo property has seen intermittent exploration activities carried out by RJK Resources, Rio Tinto Zinco, Graben Mineração SA and Nexa Resources. The focus has been on terrestrial and airborne geophysics, geochemistry, and exploratory drilling. Resouro has compiled as much of this information as possible to guide the next phase advanced exploration.
